Dumpsters

Society would collapse without dumpsters and garbage men. I appreciate the hard work garbage men put in to remove trash from our local communities. But I do find dumpsters slightly annoying.

This is largely due to how people use dumpsters. Mainly it seems like when people move out of an apartment, they'll just pile up whatever furniture, toys, beds, or other junk around or poking out of the dumpster. A quick look at my local jurisdiction's website says this isn't permissible, although they will pick up it up for a fee. Like many, I don't enjoy the sight of the accumulation of refuse.

I also don't like how people distribute trash within the dumpster or dumpsters. At my apartment people will often throw trash into whatever lid is open. This is fine, until trash is towering out of the dumpster. When the garbage truck comes, at least some trash will spill out on to the ground. Compounding the issue is that only one of the dumpsters has a door on the back, also making that one more popular.

Both of these issues are mostly beauty ones. I can see the dumpsters from my office and I work from home. Hopefully someday I'll own a house and I won't be bothered by these issues.
